VIRTUS: Protecting God’s Children Training Session at St. Odilia
Thursday, June 2, 2016, 6:30pm, School Library

Are you planning to become a NEW volunteer at St. Odilia? In our Archdiocese, all volunteers who have regular or unsupervised interaction with minors or vulnerable adults, must complete the “Essential 3” requirements prior to commencement of service.  The Essential 3 consists of signing the Volunteer Code of Conduct, completing a safe environment training session called VIRTUS: Protecting God’s Children and undergoing a background check. To register to become a volunteer at St. Odilia and complete the Essential 3:
  1. Go to www.stodilia.org and click the “Get Involved” tab and then “Volunteer” tab to print out the Volunteer Packet that includes complete instructions for completing the Essential 3 requirements.
  2. Next, visit www.virtus.org. Click on the “First-Time Registrant” button to create a personal Virtus account which will allow you to register for the VIRTUS class, sign the Code of Conduct and request a background check.
If the June 2 class scheduled at St. Odilia does not work with your schedule, you will have the opportunity to select another session at another location. There are many sessions scheduled. You can register for any “open” session outside your parish/school. More info: Kelly Gunderson, 651-415-3326.

Reorganization Plan Filing

The Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis filed its Plan for Reorganization in U.S. Bankruptcy Court just over a week ago. It is a major step in the Archdiocese’s commitment to protect children, establish a counseling fund for victims, and create a trust for those who have been harmed by people in the Church.

See the links below for a letter from the Archbishop regarding the Plan filing and a Q&A document that should be helpful in explaining why the Archdiocese filed Chapter 11 in January of 2015, where the process is now, and what happens going forward. It also addresses recent allegations that the Archdiocese failed to disclose all of its assets.
Please continue to pray for all of those who have been harmed by the Church over the years and for their families.

Our Pledge to Heal
Believe in the possibility of help and healing.
There is hope.
