The Journey to
Becoming Catholic:
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (R.C.I.A.)

The Journey to Becoming Catholic, is otherwise known as the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults or the RCIA.  It is a process designed for adults baptized in another faith tradition or non-baptized who are interested in knowing more about the Catholic faith tradition.  At St. Odilia, The living waters of baptismsessions meet weekly beginning in September through Easter on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 – 8:30 pm.  The sessions provide an opportunity for individuals to bring their life experiences and values into dialogue with views and beliefs of the Catholic faith.  There is time for questions, sharing life experiences, exploring faith issues within a Catholic perspective and weekly Catholic teachings provided during the year by the RCIA team: Tim Sommers, Mark Bauer and Sr. Penny.  Other catechists include Fr. Rask, Fr. Gjengdahl and Molly Goers.

Those who participate in the RCIA will never be pressured to join the Catholic Church.  For those who decide to become Catholic, they are received into the Church at the Easter Vigil. For more information or to participate, contact Sr. Penny at 651-415-3331 or dunn@stodilia.org.
