  • This program provides a brief overview of African-American history in the United States with the ultimate goal of better understanding systems of racial injustice today. Over the course of two sessions participants will learn about select time periods and themes featured in the 8-session program Faith and Racial Healing: Embracing Truth, Justice, and Restoration which was offered to St. Odilia parishioners in the winter and summer of 2021. Through readings, videos, dialogue, and prayer, participants will gain new insights into their awareness of privilege and racism and how patterns of oppression manifest themselves over and over again.

    Who should participate:

    • Those wishing to sign up for the Faith and Racial Justice: Changing Systems and Structures program which will be offered in late winter/early spring 2022 who did not participate in the Faith and Racial Healing program, AND/OR
    • Anyone who wishes to explore a brief history of racial injustice in our country.

Offered on Monday evenings from 6:30-8:30 pm virtually via Zoom.

    • Jan 31st - Session 1     The African American Experience before the Civil War
    • Feb 7th - Session 2      The African American Experience after the Civil War
