A Message From Our Principal
As a school, we believe that it is our mission to help all of our students develop the talents that God has given them so that they grow to be wise, confident, kind, and caring individuals. We recognize that every child is a gift from God, and we work to nurture each child's unique personality and talents to make our community a great place to be.
Our philosophy of education is teaching the whole child. St. Odilia is committed to academic excellence but recognizes that this is only one part of a complete education. At St. Odilia, we have a balance of academic excellence, faith formation, character development, and service; all of which empower students to be successful in today’s world. As a staff, we work in collaboration with parents to ensure that students obtain a solid foundation in all of these areas. As the school’s principal, I believe that when parents and our staff work together, children win every time. This is why I work closely with parents and staff while being highly accessible and visible to the children.
The vision for our school is simple: to provide a safe, loving, nurturing, learning environment for children to achieve high academic standards through our advanced curriculum and state-of-the-art technology; to help our children grow spiritually through the teachings of the gospel; to teach the value of service through our outreach programs; and to work to develop character full of integrity. We instill the courage to do what is right versus what is popular.
This is my first year as principal at St. Odilia, but I am no stranger to Catholic schools! I have over 25 years of educational experience in Catholic schools within the Archdiocese of St. Paul/Minneapolis. My experience ranges from teaching kindergarten to middle school and serving as a principal for 19 years. Additionally, I currently serve as a Minnesota Nonpublic School Accrediting Association (MNSAA) board member.
I have a B.A. from the College of St. Benedict, an M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction from St. Mary's University of Minnesota, an Educational Specialist Degree from the Minnesota State University, Mankato, and a K-12 Principal’s License. As a product of Catholic education since kindergarten and a parent of two Catholic school alum, I have a first-hand understanding of the benefits of Catholic schools, and I encourage you to schedule a visit and come and see for yourself why St. Odilia is such a wonderful place to be!
