Dear St. Odilia Church & School Families,
Easter blessings to your family! I want to share with you some exciting news about the principal selection process for St. Odilia Catholic School. Over the course of the last month, the Principal Search Committee conducted interviews of candidates, prayerfully discerned the candidates, and presented their recommendations to me for the next principal of St. Odilia Catholic School.
I am pleased to announce that Sandy Kane will assume the role of principal on July 1, 2022. Sandy earned her undergraduate degree from the University of St. Thomas and completed her master’s degree and administrative licensure program through St. Mary’s University. Sandy has spent her 21-year career in Catholic education and has spent the last 12 years in administration. She is currently the Principal at Holy Spirit and was previously the Assistant Principal at Nativity of Our Lord for many years. Additionally, Sandy has taught middle school math and fifth grade.
Sandy is a well-respected, faith-filled Catholic school leader that will continue our long-standing tradition of helping to guide the St. Odilia students to “develop the talents God has given them to grow to be wise, confident, caring individuals.” One of her greatest strengths is building positive and trusting relationships between students, parents, faculty and staff, and other parish and community stakeholders. We are confident her experience in a large Catholic school will help her with her transition to St. Odilia, and Sandy looks forward to joyfully beginning the 2022-2023 academic year here as our new principal. She looks forward to meeting you later this summer.
I wish to thank the Principal Search Committee for their participation and consultation for the selection of a principal. I was impressed by the professional, educational, and mission-driven experiences they brought to this process. Their concern for the future of the St. Odilia community was exceptional and shown in so many ways throughout the search process.
I am grateful for their willingness to serve and their commitment to Catholic education and St. Odilia Catholic School.
Please join me in thanking the Holy Spirit for guiding us through the process, providing talented individuals to be involved in the process, and guiding those who applied for the position.
God bless,
Father Erich Rutten, pastor
