May Service Project
NPH USA transforms the lives of vulnerable children in Latin America and the Caribbean by supporting the homes, health services and educational programs of Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos (NPH, Spanish for “Our Little Brothers and Sisters”). Together, we help children overcome poverty and become leaders in their own communities in Bolivia, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua and Peru.
Like many of our own families, our NPH Family is unique. Our modern, blended family consists of children, caregivers, godparents, donors and friends that don’t share last names, nationalities or cultures. Instead, we are family bonded not by blood, but by love. Our NPH Family may be much larger, more diverse and geographically distant than most, but we share the same values as many of your families: respect, care, trust, responsibility, kindness and service.
The pandemic has brought our family many new challenges. According to the Economic Commission for Latin America, an additional 30 million people in the region are now living in poverty. Alleviating poverty is an essential part of our mission here at NPH. As the poverty rate increases, so does the need for our work. When challenges arise, family is more important than ever. Together, we can get through anything.
This spring, our Minnesota region is hosting an event called ‘Summer Fiesta’ on Sunday, June 13, 2021 at the Long Lake Regional Park Pavilion, New Brighton, MN. Our goal is to come together and celebrate and fundraise for our NPH Family. https://nphusa.org/event/summerfiesta/ We’ll be joined by some delicious ice cream and food trucks. There will be plenty of games, the band Hitchville playing live music and a performance by the cultural dance group Mi Perú to keep you entertained and some local breweries including Spiral Brewery and Omni Brewery and winery Vino Uncorked offering tastings and full pours.
